I have visited Finland many times, and was looking forward to my return to Martinselkonen Wilds Centre. Over the years this location has consistently been one of the best places to see Brown Bears in Europe, being particularly good for mothers with young cubs. And it did not disappoint - we saw six different families with young cubs, varying from 1 to 3 cubs in number, most of which were "Spring cubs", that is those born in hibernation last winter, now about 5 months old. A short trip, with just four overnight sessions in purpose built hides scattered around land adjacent to the Russian border.
