New! Kenya's Super-Tuskers
Amboseli National Park, Kitirua Conservancy, Tawi Conservancy and Chyulu Hills, Kenya - March 2025
Kenya is famous for its "Super-Tuskers" - Elephants where one or both tusks weigh over 100lbs. Whilst in some parts of Africa Elephants such as these are in great danger, in Kenya they are completely safe, and consequently the majority of Africa's Super-Tuskers are found here. Everyone knows where they are, but there have been no poaching incidents for a very long time. Regrettably though, the Tanzanian border is nearby, and if they cross over it there is a risk that "Trophy" hunters may kill them - Tanzania allows this - in my opinion a very sad state of affairs.
We stayed 4 nights at Tortilis Camp in Amboseli, and then 5 nights at the wonderful Ol Donyo Lodge in the Chyulu Hills. Elephants were what we were after, and we were privileged to see three Super-Tuskers - "Esau", "One Ton" and the biggest of them all "Craig"! Lying on the ground photographing "Craig" from just 3 metres away, with Kilimanjaro in the background was an awesome spectacle!

My thanks to Safari Consultants for organising and booking this trip.
