Laikipia Wilderness Camp, Ol Donyo Lemboro Ranch, Laikipia, Kenya - February 2024
For a 7-day visit, I once again visited Laikipia Wilderness Camp in search of the now famous female Black Leopard called Giza (meaning "Darkness" in Swahili). I saw her two years ago when she was a fairly large cub, but now she is a fully grown adult, inhabiting exactly the same territory as before, which she has taken from her mother. There is only handful of Black Leopards in the world so this is a very special and exotic creature. She is now largely nocturnal - we saw her on all 7 nights, but only three times during daylight hours, twice very briefly, and one time in the afternoon for a good while.
A superb visit, organised as always by UK-based Africa specialist Safari Consultants.
